Working Holiday Visa

The Canadian Working Holiday Program is designed to easily allow young foreign nationals gain experience working and traveling in Canada for a set duration of time (6 months to 2 years, sometimes with the option of renewal). This is made possible via bi-lateral agreements with a select group of countries. You must be from a country listed in the table below to apply. Age requirements for applicants vary by country, and range from between 18-35 years of age (see table below for specifics). If you need assistance, contact our Canada immigration law firm.
Acceptance under this program is relatively promising as there are less requirements to meet than most Canadian immigration programs. For example, a job offer is NOT necessary for the Canadian Working Holiday Visa. However, given there are less requirements to meet, there are certain jobs that you will not be permitted to work in, such health care and day care jobs as these jobs require further requirements in order to protect to the public.
Other requirements apply such as:

provide proof of residence and citizenship of their country of origin (different conditions may apply by country);

the applicant being able to demonstrate they have sufficient funds to support themselves upon arrival;

have health care coverage for the duration of their stay (applicants may have to provide evidence of insurance upon arrival);

pay a participation fee in the amount of $150 CAD;

the applicant must not have previously participated in the Working Holiday Program (however, renewals are possible with certain countries – see table below).
