Canada’s increase in popularity can be attributed to its great educational institutions, reasonable cost of living and tuition, as well as a facilitated path from study permit to eventual Canadian permanent residency. According to a recent poll conducted by China’s Bank of Communications and the Economist Intelligence Unit, the city of Montreal was ranked number one in the world for university experience. Chinese students make up more than 40% of Canada’s 260,000 international students. The poll compared 80 cities worldwide, analyzing 24 factors such as financial returns, cost of living, cost of tuition, social lifestyle and employment opportunities. Montreal’s world-class educational systems such as McGill University, and the inexpensive cost of tuition, helped lift the city to the number one spot.
