The Nova Scotia Regional Labour Market Demand Stream is aimed at selecting individuals who have the skills and work experience that are currently in demand in Nova Scotia. Unlike most Canadian immigration programs, this program does not require a job offer in order to qualify.

Although there are a number of requirements to be met (see below), applicants must first have work experience in one of the eligible occupations listed below:

  • Managers in Health Care (NOC 0311)
  • Retail and wholesale trade managers (NOC 0621)
  • Restaurant and Food Service Managers (NOC 0631)
  • Financial Auditors and Accountants (NOC 1111)
  • Other Financial Officers (NOC 1114)
  • Civil Engineers (NOC 2131)
  • Mechanical Engineers (NOC 2132)
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NOC 2133)
  • Computer Engineers (Except Software Engineers and Designers) (NOC 2147)
  • Information Systems Analysts and Consultants (NOC 2171)
  • Database Analysts and Data Administrators (NOC 2172)
  • Software Engineers and Designers (NOC 2173)
  • Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers (NOC 2174)
  • Mechanical Engineering Technologists and Technicians (NOC 2232)
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technologists and Technicians (NOC 2241)
  • Systems Testing Technicians (NOC 2283)
  • Specialist Physicians (NOC 3111)
  • General Practitioners and Family Physicians ( NOC 3112)

  • Welders and related machine operator (NOC 7265)
  • Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanics (NOC 7312)

  • Supervisors, Other Mechanical and Metal Products Manufacturing (NOC 9226)

 

Applicants who have work experience in one of the above occupations must also meet the following criteria:

  • Your intended occupation in Nova Scotia is considered skilled (NOC levels 0, A or B), and currently in demand in the community you intend to reside in.
  • Within the past 5 years, applicants must have a minimum of two years of continuous, full-time work experience related to your intended occupation in Nova Scotia.
  • Be between 21 and 55 years of age at the time your application is received by Nova Scotia Immigration Office.
  • Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in either the French or English language by writing an international language exam approved by the government.
  • Have legal status in your current country of residence (i.e. citizenship, work permit, etc).
  • Have a Canadian equivalent high school level of education AND at least one degree, diploma or certificate from a post-secondary institution recognized by the Canadian government.
  • Have sufficient settlement funds.
  • Demonstrate that you are able to become economically established in Nova Scotia and that you have the intention to live in Nova Scotia permanently.
  • Submit an “Employment and Settlement Plan” outlining your potential economic, labour market, and social contributions to community you intend to reside in.
  • Applicants may be required to attend an interview in Nova Scotia.
